Aslan Housing Foundation is pleased to announce that Makomborero Muropa has joined the organization as Vice President of Programs effective January 1, 2026.
Mako brings extensive experience in legal advocacy, program management, and organizational leadership. He holds an LLM from the University of Pretoria, has managed multi-country portfolios at Accountability Lab, and founded African Montessori Hub. He and Aslan Founder/CEO Nicole Bergeron have collaborated for over a year through Duke Divinity School’s Reflective Leadership grant to Aslan and as co-authors on a book, The Burden of Brilliance.
As VP of Programs, Mako will oversee operational execution of Aslan’s Down Payment Assistance Program, coordinate strategic partnerships, serve as a strategic thought partner in organizational growth, build bridges across Aslan’s network of ministry partners and foundations, and develop systems to support scale.
“Mako’s legal mind, operational capacity, theological depth, and commitment to housing justice make him the right leader to help us scale our proven models,” said Nicole Bergeron, Aslan’s Founder and CEO. “His faith is vibrant and deeply rooted in Scripture—he understands that housing is more than policy; it’s about human dignity and the capacity for ministry leaders to remain rooted in the communities they serve. We’ve deployed over $9 million in equity-share capital, leveraging millions more, to keep ministry leaders in place. With Mako leading operations, we’re positioned to expand our impact significantly.”
