As it launches its staff housing initiative, VFC is encouraging donors to consider contributions to a general-purpose fund, under Aslan’s umbrella. The church’s leadership team would be granted discretion to apply the funds where most needed.
Currently, the highest priority needs appear to be as follows:
- An equity share arrangement to help VFC’s founding pastor to purchase the home where he and his wife have been renting. We look forward to his continued role at our church for many years, and housing will be a key ingredient in making that possible.
- As VFC proceeds to recruit and hire a second lead pastor, that person may well need housing assistance as part of his hiring package – especially if he moves from a less expensive housing area. While the exact timing and housing needs are not yet known, VFC needs to prepare solutions in the meantime, since it would need to move quickly at the time of hiring.
Ideally, donations for staff housing would be made with no restrictions. However, VFC leadership is open to designation of donated funds, and would do its best to honor those designations. VFC’s staff housing team would be glad to meet with prospective donors, and would be open to discussing other options they might have in mind (e.g., below market rental of units they own, or direct participation in equity share arrangements).
